Ivimy goes AWOL

Disgraced H&F Tory councillor Lucy Ivimy (see blogs galore below) missed her first Cabinet meeting as lead member for housing last night.

She also missed last week's Hammersmith North Housing Forum where residents were eager to ask her questions about her recent remarks insulting local residents.

If Cllr Ivimy had attended the Cabinet meeting, she would have seen disabled residents protesting against the introduction of homecare charges. Even though the Tory leader, Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, admitted the move was a breach of the Tory manifesto, he refused to allow any resident to address the Cabinet.

The question on everyone's lips is: "Where is Cllr Ivimy?" Has she resigned without telling anyone? Will she be giving back her allowance for failing to undertake her public duties?

One week on, Cllr Ivimy's position remains untenable.

This could be the shortest "cabinet" "career" ever.

Perhaps she could become Mayor as a consolation?

Meanwhile, the "Arms Length" Housing organisation, having successfully gone from 3 to 2 to 1 star, is crowing at the supposed "improvement" of getting 1 star with prospects, rather than 1 star with no prospects.

As part of the "recovery plan" they want to recruit a new layer of "Directors" below the Chief Exec but above the current managers.

More money for the fat cats.

Perhaps Nick Johnson will award himself a 25% pay rise, to match the £125 k which the Lambeth ALMOs chief will get?

I sincerely hope this blog is maintained by a concerned resident (and if so, kudos to you), rather than a disgruntled worker, because that would just be pathetic.

You've made your point about Cllr Ivimy, one with which I concur, but seriously, it's time to move on...

Most definitely a blog written by a local resident and not a council worker. The focus is on how the Conservatives are running H&F council and the impact on local residents.

I disagree about moving on re Cllr Ivimy. Her comments and subsequent actions suggest that she is neither fit nor able to undertake the role of cabinet member for housing.

The only time to move on from Cllr Ivimy is when she has moved on. Clearly her non-attendance is a tactic to wait for the "dust to settle" then brush it under the carpet.

This is a blog kept by the former Labour leader of the council - Stephen Burke - who has not moved on!

Welcome back Paul/Harry/whichever Tory you are - good to see that the Conservatives keep visiting this blog.

Plenty more blogs to come, given all the material you are providing hfconwatch, Rupert Bear et al!
